Sunburst Marathon (or Half) Giveaway!!!

It’s no secret that one of my all time favorite race series is the Sunburst Races in South Bend, IN.  This is a great location for me because it’s close to Chicagoland but also close to my parents home so that they can help with the kiddos.  The timing is also good and avoids holiday conflict by running the weekend AFTER Memorial Day.  There are multiple race distances to suit the entire family (Fitness Walk, 5K, 10K, Half Marathon & Full Marathon)!  The course is scenic and relatively flat.  And last but not least, the finish is inside the stadium on the 50 yard line of the Notre Dame Football Field.

Runners and football fans alike, love, Love, LOVE this event.  One of my favorite aspects of the event is that it’s convenient for those of us who tend to “fly in and out” of races as well as those who like to stay for a while and enjoy the local atmosphere.  Downtown South Bend offers an array of activities from the College Football Hall of Fame, to several restaurants/bars, to the Chocolate Café by the South Bend Chocolate Company, which is a favorite for my family.

  1. I would love to run this race again ….ran it last year but didn’t go as well
as expected………I liked Sunbursr races ! thank you for the awesome
    giveaway!

  2. I was planning to do this race as a 24th birthday present to myself! (It’s the day before my birthday!) I would absolutely love to go! I have liked their facebook page as well 🙂

  3. Thanks for hosting this race! I am starting to work on trying to run a race in all 50 states, so I was already considering the Sunburst Half Marathon as my Indiana race! I’ve heard great things about this series and I have liked their FB page.

  4. I’d love to try this race! I grew up in Chesterton (parents still live there) and I remember going to South Bend for soccer games…just a time zone conversion away (seriously Indiana, get on the same page! haha) I also liked their FB page!

  5. Ok so I liked Sunburst on Facebook. I am trying to branch out and do other half marathons besides Fort Wayne. What would be better than starting with a free one! Also it would be a great birthday present since it’s the day before the big 4-0!!!! Here’s hoping!!!!! 🙂

  6. I like Sunburst on FB abd would love a chance to run the half. I’m a Notee Dame alum and haven’t participated in the race yet!

  7. Too-Tall, count me in on this giveaway…I have never done Sunburst B4 and this might be the opp to do it! If I am not in position to run it for a BQT (which I will likely need this time), then I promise I will help you run your best, carry your water and other necessities! I also did a “Like” at the Sunburst page…so add that to increase my odds! Cool stuff you do on this blog-site…a disciple of yours in perpetuity!

  8. Would love to win this!!! My hubby is a huge nd fan and wanted to do it last year for him! I like sunbursts page as well!! Winning this would be awesome!!!!

  9. This sounds awesome! Starting to think about doing a little bit of traveling for races too since all the ones I have done are close to home thus far. South Bend would be the perfect travel distance!

  10. This marathon always has been on my bucket list. I love races that finish in stadiums. I’ve twice run a 5K (that sadly isn’t run anymore) that finishes in Oriole Park at Camden Yards. I’ve run the Tar Heel 10 Miler, which finishes in Kenan Stadium (UNC’s football stadium) in Chapel Hill. I’ve also run the Marshall University Marathon that finished inside its football stadium. But to finish a marathon in Notre Dame Stadium would top them all. As to liking the race’s Facebook page: I’ve liked it for a couple of years since it’s always been on my marathon bucket list.

  11. I have had my eye on this marathon for awhile. There is something unique about finishing on the 50 yard line in a stadium, nothing else like it! Working on running all 50 states and need Indiana, plus me and my family are huge college and pro football fans. Would be a great way to spend some time as a family for a few day. Hope I am the lucky on to get picked!

  12. My friend is running this marathon. I would love to join her. We met running when I was running a half and she was running a full. It would mean the world to me to run a full beside my dear friend.

  13. I liked sunburst races before and follow them on FB and get their emails- this is a good location for me because I have reps there that I could sneak down for ‘work’ and then stay for the race. Not sure if I will want to do the half since my first full is May 18, but I know I can’t go long without a race! So even if it were the 10K it would be worth it to be able to check this one out!

  14. I love free stuff and am always looking for something new. Thanks, TooTallFritz, for prompting me to Like the Sunburst Races Facebook page. I’ve always enjoyed South Bend and hope my 2 entries are pretty lucky!
