The response to yesterday’s post on my achieving the 1000 mile goal was that some thought I was crazy were overwhelmed by the idea of running 1000 miles. As in all goals that a person attempts to achieve, break down the hopeless MAJOR undertaking into small parts or baby steps. If one were to train for a half or a full marathon they should might look at a Hal Higdon training program that breaks down the training week by week so that the thought of running 13.1 or 26.2 doesn’t scare the shit out of them seem so daunting. I never think about the “end game”, only what I have to run to get thru this week. And let me just say that anything over 16 miles makes me wanna cry like a baby, I CAN’T think about 26.2 or I’ll never get out the door to hit the start line.
When I considered the 1000 miles as a goal, I broke it down into small pieces. 1) Run 19.2 miles a week or 2) Squeeze in 83.3 miles per month. This makes it much more manageable and very doable on those terms. 1000 miles does sound CRAZY and the 2000 that Frogger is running is certifiably insane but if you take it down a notch, look at what needs to happen for just today, or just this week, then you will be able to manage anything.
Remember, baby steps will carry you through any process from inception to completion. You CAN do it!

a good reminder for me.
Thanks
TTF…ya…speaking to this Coach’s heart…baby steps…ok…maybe I would call it something different…but one and same…process…running the training in increments, day-by-day, week-by-week, as the schedule dictates, allowing the body to adapt…adjust…incrementally…until cumulative effect leads ya to a state ya go 26.2….Woo-Hoo….works….just have the faith…believe in the training….do-it…and one day ya recognize ya one stronger running brother or sister and can do what seemingly…seemed the impossible. But….it ain’t….Ya got it TTF…Woo-Hoo….shout it to the world…just like ya do….and the over-strike always leave Frog with a smile. Ya got it sister….hey, ya all…TTF…she got what it takes…what it takes to be a mom…a loving wife…loving spouse to hubby (whom I adore in those pics-lucky man he B)…those cool pics of kiddies…all, whether hubby or kiddles…seem to look in those pics as if they are enjoying Mom’s journey…who she be…she just saying, “I am…..” Doesn’t matter what….just be your “I am” (borrowing from Kristiin Armstrong). Unrelated….or is it?…..a favorite experience by Frog…at Valpo 13.1 marathon….mile 9 split timer…..tough 40-50 mph winds….then there was this gal come running up…..in some white top says Too-Tall-Friz or something like that….know that gal and no hesitation…hugs we do….F-D the time (at least at that point and in that wind!)….and I am thinking….me eyes are looking up to level with Amanda’s eyes….yikes….she is tall….beautifully tall. TTF has a unique perspective….knows how to work the “words”….she’s a writer…to say the least….gotta get Kristin paying some attention to her…thinking KA will idenfiy and might want TTF part of her sister-hood? Who knows…speculative…dreaming…..but got to have dreams for any change to occur…right? TTF got it….all baby-steps….so go on baby-stepping sisters and brothers….running or in other ways of life…don’t matter….just as TTF says….take it all in incremental steps….Woo-Hoo….gotta love it….when someone can speak to your soul…sometimes it is a spark to light a fire in yur heart to do what ya love to do! Yah…..yah….yah! Way to go TTF….your speak does that to this Frog’s heart…helps light a fire to be better runner…be better person….keep it up!
peace-n-love
As always, thank you for the kind words! I appreciate it. And I’m pretty sure I’m not even on Kristin Armstrong’s radar. LOL!
