There are so many awesome races taking place this weekend and I want to wish each and every one of you well! I know that people normally say: Good Luck!
However, I want you to know that you don’t need luck because you have done the work and the race is yours to own. You’ve Got This!!
So think positive thoughts, when the race gets rough, repeat “I’ve Got This”! Make it Happen for yourself, for your hard work, for the sense of accomplishment and pride you will feel when you cross the finish line. Do the best that you can do on the particular day and never have any post race regrets. Remember, if the weather is less than ideal, you are not alone but have all of your racemates who are dealing with the same exact weather conditions as you.
You’ve Totally Got This…..now go put an awesome race in the books!
Where are you racing this weekend? Tell us so that we can send happy, positive thoughts your way! I’ll be in Palos at the Southwest Half Marathon on Sunday. Look for me and say, HEY!
Happy Racing, Amanda – TooTallFritz
Down and dirty merrill mud run miami 10K on Sunday. I’m gonna be thinking of you the WHOLE TIME!! 🙂
Oh, fun! I wish you would have your Team Tough Chik shirt for that one! Shoot me a list of your races so I can scope them out. Hugs!!!
No racing for me this weekend. Have fun on Sunday, you’ve got this:)
🙂
Thank you! I needed that!
You totally ROCK, Lucy….now come pace me to “my” 1:50, would you? 🙂
I was reading something about Desiree Davilia and her Olympic trials (or maybe it was her performance at Boston last year?) Either way, she went in the race not hoping for a certain time, but expecting a certain time. Basically, she was saying that she trained her butt off to achieve whatever crazy fast time she was going for. She did all the work. She knew she had that time IN her. It was just a matter of getting out there and actually doing it. But she KNEW she would do it, because that’s what she trained for. And guess what? She did it. Confidence goes along way. If you trained properly, you should achieve your goals! I plan to have this same mindset on June 2 at my half. Not “I hope I can achieve a sub-2 (or sub-whatever) half marathon” but rather, “I’ve been training for this, it’s in me, I CAN DO IT. WATCH ME.”
Awesome! Desi definitely my favorite. She is tough.
I will be down in Cincinnati at the Flying Pig! Good reminder that i won’t be alone in the heat 🙂 All those other suckers will be suffering with me!
Can’t wait for the Flying Pig recap! I’ve heard great things about that race but I just can’t pass up Palos being so close to the house.
The Chicago Police Run to Remember is Saturday on the lake. It’s a great path from Soldiers Field. They do a phenomenal job. Very moving with the helicopter fly by, horses, marine unit on the lake. The post race spread is huge and lots of stuff. But mainly it is the first race I ever ran and now my teenagers run it with me and my 8year old will do the junior jog. Thanks for all the inspiration.
So many great races, so little time. Enjoy!
Love it! This is going to become one of my new race mantras! And I want to work on not having any post-race regrets since I ALWAYS think I could have done better…
I’m not racing this weekend, but I can’t wait to hear how the Southwest Half goes on Sunday! YOU’VE GOT THIS!!!!! =D
Great post! Thanks for the motivation!! 🙂
Trying to PUMP US UP! WoooooHooooooo! 🙂
I was sitting at work today second guessing and so nervous about this Sunday’s 1st Midwest Bank Half Marathon…and then your blog came up. Thanks for the vote of confidence and the “I got this” mantra.
I think we all are a little anxious with the change in weather. Relax, hydrate…..You’ve Totally Got This!
Go Go Go!!!!
