I Bid Adieu To….Chick 3

We all know that I’m not happy about it but there is absolutely nothing that can be done, so I packed up my “Chick 3” ensemble tonight to pass on to the newbie runner for Ragnar Chicago Team #85 – You Just Got Chicked.

So much emotion went into the preparation and planning for this team that it seems unreal that it’s no longer on my plate.  I feel as if I section has been torn out of my book and the ending left unknown, questioned and lost.  Super sad.  Loads of tears.

I’d like to send out a few Thank You’s..…..

  • Thanks to the ladies who have already asked me to be part of their 2013 Ragnar teams.  Much appreciated but my wounds are still fresh and well, I can’t walk very well right now so won’t be planning any long distance relays at this time
  • Thanks to all of you for your well wishes and words of encouragement.
  • Thanks to all of you who were scrambling in an attempt to fill my ultra spot on the relay.
  • Thanks to those of you who offered up ideas on SKINNY drinks. 
  • Thanks to Ragnar for sending me such a nice email, informing me that my captain had dropped me from the team.  I got that.  My foot popped, I knew I’d be dropped.  Good times.  Thanks for the info.
  • Thanks to  Aby for limping around downtown with me this week, going to work with me, helping me onto the train, filing, copying and running back & forth to the freezer for my ice bag.
  • Thanks to hubby for pretending he gave a shit cared about the billion tears I cried over a relay that happens EVERY year.  This isn’t exactly the last one, there will be a “few” more!
  • Thanks to BondiBand, Aspaeris Pivot Shorts, Family Fan Club, ShowerPill and Gu Energy for setting up Team You Just Got Chicked to kick some ass have fun in this race.

I hope you all have an awesome Ragnar, if you are running, or kick some butt on whatever you attempt this weekend!  #MakeItCount

    • Thanks, Jess! I know this is an unexpected and crappy situation. Nobody’s fault. I’m sure some would blame me for overtraining but I really don’t. I only run 3 or 4 days a week. You ladies will have fun and do great, no doubts there; enjoy it! I’m thinking happy/postive/safe thoughts for all of you.

  1. Yes, I know how you feel, last year I was supposed to run it and I sucombed to a stress fracture, and I hated that email stating I was dropped. I was devestated!! You will be back and you will be stronger. I loved your comment the other day about the runner you saw…..I was re-living last year, I HATED seeing people run when I couldn’t. You have the boat and the pool and the kids are home from school, your time will fly by, doesn’t seem like it now but it will. Last year I took my boat out to the middle of the lake and proceded to swim/jog around my boat, my friends(Non-runners) kept stopping by asking what are you doing???? I was non-weight bearing, it was all I could do….I went around the boat over 100 times!! I finally get to run my Ragnar this year, hopefully I will see team You’ve been Chicked, and I will give them a shout out for you!! Stay positive and don’t go anywhere you see people running!!

  2. I got teary reading this, too. I can’t wait to see you out there again, whether you’re walking, biking or RUNNING! (((HUGS))) pal. I’ve been thinking of you every day, sending lots of healing vibes your way!

  4. Oh, this is sad. Huge disappointment. I have been there. But, you know that next year will be a different story. Heal up! Maybe do something fun for yourself this weekend.
