Pro Compression Calf Sleeve Review & Giveaway

image

As we know, compression is all the rage right now.  It has taken our running and endurance activities to another level by helping us recover faster and get back out on the trail sooner than ever before, to push harder and get results.  Compression works.

There are various compression products on the market.  Last week we talked about compression shorts, this week we will focus on compression calf sleeves.  Regardless of where you run or race, you will see colorful compression socks or sleeves on many runners.

image

I personally prefer calf sleeves when I run which is why I was super happy to see them recently added to the Pro Compression line up.  I’m very picky about my running socks.  I wear one brand and its a little thicker and cushier than the normal “ultra thin” running sock.  All my running shoes are laced to fit that particular sock and compression socks are not the same thickness.  So I prefer the sleeves while running in order to reap the benefits of compression and still be able to wear my favorite run sock.  Then I wear the full compression socks for after run recovery and traveling.  🙂

image

According to the Pro Compression website:

Your feet and legs are your engine. Anything less than peak performance and full recovery means unnecessary discomfort while operating at less than your best. Change all of that with the advanced design and materials that make PRO Compression socks your ultimate recovery tool…..

PRO Compression socks are designed specifically to deliver both maximum comfort and speedy recovery times. The science is complex, but benefits such as improved blood flow, stability and comfort are universally understood.  The moment you put these socks on your feet and incorporate them into your game, you will feel and understand the difference.

I was super excited to try out the Pro Compression calf sleeves. I know their calf sleeve line is new but they know compression.  If I’m going to wear compression socks to work around the house with my slippers, Pro Compression socks are my first choice.  So I was ecstatic to try out the calf sleeves for running.

Pro Compression SLEEVES_green

I love them.  I love that they are green.  I love that they fit like a glove. I love that they are green.  I love that they didn’t move when I ran. I love that they are green.  I love that they compress without putting too much pressure on my legs to create discomfort. I love that they are green.  I love that they don’t stretch out after multiple wear sessions. I love that they are green.  I love that I can pair them with capri’s for warmth & compression as the temps turn cooler. I love that they are green.  I love that they are at the top of my drawer and my current new favorite thing. I love that they are green.  I love that they match my new favorite shoes so well.  🙂

Regardless of whether you wear compression for function or fashion, I recommend trying out the new Pro Compression Calf Sleeves.  I look forward to adding more colors to my line up!

Pro Compression has generously agreed to give one lucky reader a pair of calf sleeves ($45 value), in their size/color preference.  To be entered in the giveaway, please comment below and tell me what you prefer:  compression calf sleeves, full compression socks or none of the above?

You might also want to follow Pro Compression on Facebook HERE in order to be up to date on the latest specials!   If you want to shop now, use the discount code: FIT40 for 40% off, plus free shipping.  That brings the calf sleeves down to $27 each!  Good deal!

One winner will be chosen on Monday, December 17th at 9am.  Good luck!

Under Armour Divide Hoody Review

image

There is a bit of hoody mania going on over at Under Armour!  They have hoodies in every color imaginable and recently had them on sale for 25% off!

One of the newest additions to the UA hoody lineup is the fleece Divide Hoody.  See the Under Armour description of the Divide Hoody below:

image

We took your favorite performance hoody, added a little subtle color blocking, and lightened it up for the perfect amount of protection. Not too heavy but not paper thin either. And if you need to up the warmth factor, the slick exterior makes laying super easy—no struggling or stuffing necessary. And, of course, the soft, brushed underside circulates your body heat for lasting warmth even on its own.

The fundamentals
  • Super-lightweight Armour® Fleece fabric is smooth outside and brushed on the inside
  • Soft, brushed inner layer traps heat for all-day warmth and comfort
  • Signature Moisture Transport System wicks sweat so it dries faster
  • Lightweight stretch construction improves mobility for full range of motion
  • Two-piece hood with matching drawcords
  • Princess seams create a slimmer, more streamlined silhouette
  • Exaggerated ribbed cuffs and hem
  • Side hand pockets
  • 195g Polyester
  • Imported

I managed to score one of these babies in purple and tried it out yesterday on my 6 mile run at Yankee Woods.  UA hoodie_me

Although I see people wearing hoodies all the time, they are not a normal “go to” cold weather item for me.  I prefer a more fitted layering system and in the past that was not the hoody design.  However, over the last several years, Under Armour has developed a line of hoodies for women that are both technical and fitted.  The hoody no longer represents a sloppy, ill-fitting “sweatshirt” but is now considered a fitted piece of technical clothing!

I quickly found my favorite aspect of running in a hoody …… the amazing pocket!

UA hoodie pocket

I was able to fit both knuckle lights and my gloves in that amazing pocket!  I feel like hoody wearers have conspired to keep this valuable bit of info from me!  Is this a secret amongst the hoody wearing community?  The best part is that I could have fit much, much more into that pocket had I wanted/needed to do it.  For a mom who travels with everything, including the kitchen sink and pepper spray, this was a major score in my opinion!

The hoodie kept me super warm and I was actually sweating within the first few miles of the run.  Plus all the stuff in my pocket didn’t bounce or drive me crazy.  Win, Win!!!

I did get this hoodie in a size large, which is bigger than I need, but on the same hand it doesn’t look bad.

UA hoodie_me2

Since I don’t own any other hoodies, I just went with the size I would normally wear in most fitness clothing.  As I look back at the order of my beloved UA Base 3.0 1/4 zip (in black on the left and in blue with Joe & Julie on a wintery run on the right), I see that I’m a medium in UA.

UA_black        UA_blue_joe-julie-me

Oppps!  Use the size chart so you don’t make the same mistake.

I like my winter layers to be tight against my core so that heat doesn’t escape.  I didn’t have an issue with air getting in or my heat escaping the Divide Hoody but would probably size down for my next one for a more snug fit.  I love the pink and the yellow; I can’t decide, look at these amazing colors!

You might want to go over to the Under Armour site and browse around because we “might” be doing a giveaway soon.  🙂

Yurbuds Inspire for Women Review & Giveaway

image

If you haven’t heard the buzz about the new Yurbuds for women, then you probably have a toddler in the house I’m here to spread the news!  In the last couple of weeks, Yurbuds has launched a new product line designed for women by women.   They released the Inspire for Women earphones.

image

At first glance, one might assume that they just “colored up” the normal Yurbuds but these were specifically designed to fit smaller ears.  According to the spec sheet below they also feature the patented TwistLock Technology and they are sweat and water proof!

FEATURES:

  • Designed specifically to fit smaller ears
  • TwistLock (TM) Technology – Guaranteed to never fall out
  • Flexsoft (TM) Comfort Fit – Ergonomically designed to avoid nerve rich areas of the ear
  • Sweat & Water Resistant – Designed for active use
  • Exceptional Sound – Clinically proven acoustics
  • Angled-Flex Plug

My number one issue with earphones is that they do not fit my ear.  If I take music on a run I rarely use it or I “save” it for when I need it.  I am never able to listen long because my earphones dig into my ears and hurt.  And I can’t even count the number of times that I have made the decision to turn on the music and I don’t get any sound because the wires and/or device got wet and wouldn’t work.  I stopped taking music with me for the above reasons.   It was for these same reasons that I honestly wanted to try the Yurbuds Inspire for Women.

They came in the mail and I was tentatively excited (iPod not included).

Yurbuds Inspire_package

There are two sizes of earphones in each package.  I compared them to a penny as a point of reference and am super happy my old bar skillz of standing a coin on end FINALLY came in handy!

Yurbuds Inspire_size & penny

I opted to try the smaller set since the larger size is the approximate size of an iPod earbud and that is normally too large for my ear.    They fit perfectly.  First use was indoors on the treadmill.  I plugged in while the family was milling around the house and crossed my fingers!  I am normally not able to hear my music unless its blaring because life around me is “abuzz”.  However, these earphones twisted in, fit well and I was immediately impressed with the sound quality AND how loud my player was from its last session.  I was able to turn down the volume considerably and still hear the tunes.  Plus, I kept thinking that the music just SOUNDED so much more vibrant (can I use this word for SOUND?) than normal.  Hmmmmm…..  So strange.  So I ran, was sweaty and nasty, able to hear the music the entire time and the sound was sooooo much better than I remembered.  The earphones never hurt my ears and they never moved.  In fact, I was so intent on the sound of the music, I forgot about the earphones all together.  This is good for me!  Sweaty photo below.

Yurbuds Inspire_ear

I’ve since tried the Yurbuds Inspire for Women earphones multiple times both indoors and out and I’m in love with these things.  They sound “normal” when only using one earphone but really shine on the sound quality front with both earphones locked into position.  Oh yeah, and they fit my ear!  They fit when I run, when I do the StairMaster and Elliptical.  Next up, a Tae Bo workout.  If they can survive Billy Blanks, then they will survive any fitness activity!

I’m definitely going to pick up a pair of these babies in pink for Aby for Christmas.  I know the size of earphones is always an issue for her tiny ears as well.  I’m super excited about this new product!

The Yurbuds Inspire for Women are exclusively sold at Target and Target.com.  They are reasonably priced at $29.99 and I’m going to get a pair for Aby ASAP before the holiday rush begins next week!!!  If you would like to grab a pair now without getting out of your PJs then click HERE to shop!  Or you can always try to win these:

Yurbuds Inspire_orange

I have one pair of the orange Inpsire’s for a lucky reader!  In order to be eligible to win, please comment below and share your all time favorite running song.  I apparently need to update my outdated playlist.   The winner will be drawn on Monday, November 19th at 9am via Random.org.   I’ll ship out these babies ASAP so you will have them in time for your Thanksgiving Turkey Trot!  Good Luck!

2013 Team Tough Chik…..

The registration period for the 2013 Team Tough Chik is NOW open!

You may have seen me announce this on my facebook page last week but I wanted to do an official post.  The registration period is only open through October 29th so don’t put it off too long or you will have to wait for another year to be part of this amazing community of active women!

As I await the influx of new “Toughies”, I look back on this year and recall how Team Tough Chik has supported me unconditionally thru the ups and downs of what came to be for 2012.  I did spend a lot of time in Team gear but it was mostly on the bike since my run was put on hold  for several months due to injury.

Aby and I first raced in the Team Tough Chik singlets at the Devils Dash in Peotone in May.  Here were are with my friend Nicki (who will be on Team Tough Chik for 2013!!) and Michael, then a couple of “on the run” photos.

Devil Dash_group   devil dash 2012_aby4  devil dash 2012_me2

Then I got hurt and spent a considerable amount of time cycling:

Me_5-18-12   image image

And some time teaming up with Aby for a bit of duathlon action:

tinleydu_12_meaby   tinleydu_12_aby2

And some time doing 2/3 of triathlon races for which I was already registered:

image  image

And you know, when I look at it this way, 2012 doesn’t look so bad!

When I originally heard about Team Tough Chik, I had never even purchased one Tough Chik item but I was intrigued with the all women team concept and being part of something a bit bigger than my local community.  I truly wanted to be part of an international team of amazing women.  Then when I heard that Tough Chik was lining up sponsors and all of the team members would be getting a “mystery” package, along with their Team gear, which would include samples, full size products, and a year’s worth of discounts for not only Tough Chik but also ALL OF OUR SPONSORS, I was hooked.  They had me at “mystery” package.  I took the gamble and immediately signed up for the team and it has been an amazing experience.

What did the sign-up entail?  I had to purchase a Team gear package.  The least expensive package was for the running singlet only and it was very reasonably priced.  It will be the same this year.  If you want to be “part” of the team, you may purchase any of the packages HERE, and they start at $25 and go up to and include the “Whole Enchilada”.  The least expensive (running singlet only) package also includes 5% off of all regular Tough Chik gear for a full year, plus the random goodies & discounts from our new sponsors.   Cool, huh?  And most importantly, we once again have a kick ass awesome design.  Here is a peak at the 2013 TRI kit:

image

Check out today’s Tough Chik blog HERE for a few words from myself, Susan, Karen and Tonia  as to what Team Tough Chik has meant to us for 2012.  Hope to see you on the 2013 Team!

Whooha Gear Giveaway…….

Whooha = Women Having Optimistic Objectives & Healthy Attitudes

Aurelia R. introduced me to Whooha Gear about 6 months ago and I immediately fell in love.  Although their acronym is a mouthful unusual, the words speak to me.  Plus the gear is amazing.  Normally fit is an issue for me and I was pleasantly surprised when the first item I ordered fit the first time.  I was even more surprised that it was also something that I actually wanted to wear.  If you know me, and know me well, you know that I return about 90% of the items I order online and I give away another 5%.  My success rate with clothing is very low.

In addition to my love of the fit and feel of Whooha, I am also in love with the company motto and focus.  This is directly from the Whooha homepage:

image Inspire yourself…that is the goal Whooha Gear has set for you! Started by two women athletes, Whooha Gear provides athletic wear made for women by women. Our shirts and accessories have inspirational sayings for active women that range from runners, climbers, triathletes, cyclists, hikers and much, much more.

My first Whooha item purchased was the Doesn’t Hurt to TRI V-Neck Heather Tee which is currently on close out for $20.  I paid “full” price, which was $24.  That’s reasonable in my opinion.  It’s also soft and fits my “curves” without hugging me inappropriately.

Whooha_blue shirt    image

image

I’ve worn this Doesn’t Hurt to TRI Tee several times, including to work on a Friday the Ironman Muncie 70.3 expo where a woman seriously ran me down to find out where I had gotten this shirt.   It’s cute and chick at the same time, plus feels comfortable enough that I actually don’t mind it being a t-shirt.  I normally won’t ever wear a t-shirt, not even for running or workouts.  I’m very picky, but this I love!  🙂

After the above shirt being torn to shreds by jealous women at the Ironman expo such a huge hit in Muncie, I finally ordered another one.  Ironically, I like this one even more than the first!  My second purchase was the TRI & Triumph Triblend Scoop Neck.  Once again I paid full price at $24.  This shirt looks and feels amazing and I have to consciously wear something different on the weekends so people don’t see me in the same shirt over and over.  LOVE.THIS.SHIRT.  Its super soft and fits perfectly with a little flare at the tummy so it doesn’t stick to my rolls mommy tummy.  Thank you, Whooha!

You “might” want to go browse around the Whooha site yourself because they have generously agreed to let the winner of the giveaway PICK THEIR OWN ITEM!!!  The main shopping section is HERE, which includes a lot of closeouts and everything is priced reasonably. Currently, my favorite product is the I Run Burnout Hoodie, which I don’t own yet, but I’m hoping Santa will bring it for me in a size large.

If you would like to be entered in the giveaway:

  1. Go check out the Whooha Gear store and then tell me in the comments below which item you will be selecting if you are randomly picked as the winner of this giveaway. (1 entry)

Fall Is In The Air….

This morning when Michael tore me out of bed I got up, I was giddy with excitement seeing a temperatures in the 50s.  As soon as I could manage it, I was dressed to run.

Me_9-8-12

“Run”Way Fashion – Saucony Ignite Singlet & Athleta Relay Capris

One of the best things about the arrival of fall is that some of our favorite summer wear, like the Saucony Ignite Singlet is on sale!  The Ignite Singlet is currently on “Last Chance” Sale for $22 along with a lot of other great items.  If you have been sweating away the summer in one or two things that you can’t seem to keep clean, then you might want to check online to see if your favorites have hit the clearance racks yet.  Aby and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these singlets and we both pull them out first when they are clean.  We both have a blue & corral colored singlet but I can only seem to find photos of us in the coral.

Me_bike_6-6-12

I just ordered us a couple more off the Last Chance sale.  I’m looking forward to wearing this one since neon green is my favorite color!   They are so light and airy that they work well for both hot & steamy indoor workouts as well as running!

image

Another staple to my wardrobe for anytime fall running is the Athleta Relay Capri.  These babies are NOT on sale.  Never.  But they are worth the $69 price tag.  If I’m wearing capris, which is all the time other than extreme heat or extreme cold, then they are these Relay Capris.

imageI ordered my first pair 3 years ago, in black and they still look like brand new.  I ordered the navy ones last year and then just added the asphalt color this season.  To say the least, I love these awesome pants.  They don’t move, which I love.  They come up a bit higher on the mommy tummy, which I REALLY love.  They have a zip pouch in the back which fits my key, gel, phone (will only fit by itself), etc.   They also include a removable WATERPROOF pouch for inside the zip compartment for those of you who leave the trail looking like you went for a swim instead of a run.  You will also notice reflective accents for my middle of the night early morning run sessions, plus they come in special sizes, like tall, need I say more?  I love these pants and so does everyone else so if you want a pair, I’d order soon before fall really arrives and/or everyone receives their new catalog because these go on backorder fast and who really needs a pair of capris in December?

What are your go to run/workout clothing items?  Anything on sale that we need to know about?

Still Trying to Keep Cool…..180s Quantum Cool Giveaway

I wish I had a new story to tell but it’s the same thing over and over again, the runners in Chicago, and throughout the Midwest, are melting!  I’m still in shock over how hot and sticky this summer has been and I haven’t ran near the miles as most of you.

As your may remember in this post HERE, Aby has found a few innovative ways to keep cool while running this summer, one of which was using a 180s Quantum Cool headband.

Days after Aby made me buy got this headband, I received an email from the company that I had won a FREE QuantumCool Training Visor in their weekly Facebook drawing.  I was super psyched and anxious for it to arrive.  I’m not sure I even had the visor for 24 hours before it hit the trail with me for a run.

me_8-11-12_180s Visor I only own one other visor and to be honest, I have never worn it.  I normally only wear “hats” when it rains and a visor is what, half of a hat?  I prefer to run in the woods or shaded areas and haven’t found a real pull toward visors for the purpose of keep the sun out of my eyes.  However, I get hot.  Like really hot.  I melt.  I get headaches in the sun and the idea of a cooling visor, well now THAT appeals to me in a really big way.

QuantumCool_logo

The visor is adjustable but holds tightly to the head.  The cooling element is located in the sweatband and the technology is activated with sweat or water.  According to the 180s.com website:

QuantumCool moisture activated cooling technology begins to work as soon as sweating occurs.  Cooling your skin is 180s answer to overheating, overexposure to the sun and decreased performance.  Experience the active cooling and increased comfort of QuantumCool and stay out there longer.

I usually just get it wet myself because by the time my body starts sweating, I’m near death, so I just skip ahead and get it wet for my own safety and it is like holding a cool cloth to my forehead.  I don’t notice it being “cold” when I run but I notice it not working when I take it off.  I even used it on the boat one day when it was coolish (mid 80s) and I had to take it off because I was chilled between the breeze and the visor.

The specific details on the visor:

QuantumCool is located in the sweatband and actively cools as soon as you begin to sweat, cooling skin.  The stretch waffle knit fabric quickly absorbs sweat, naturally increasing the cooling effect. Designed to solve many weather-related challenges that outdoor athletes encounter, the QuantumCool Training Visor offers these additional features:

  • Hook and Loop Elastic Back Closure: Allows for one-handed adjustment to keep the hat comfortable and in place during activity.
  • Lightweight: Protection without impacting performance.
  • Pulse Point Cooling: The cooling element in the sweatband is located on pulse points at the temples, increasing the cooling rate of the body.
  • Technical Stretch: Increases comfort and improves fit.
  • QuantumCool Technology: Moisture Activated Cooling Technology
  • UPF 30+ Protection: Provides added protection from the harmful rays of the sun.

I don’t pretend to be scientific but I like having it when its hot and I keep pulling it out again and again to fight the heat.Me_8-23-12_180s Visor

The QuantumCool Training Visor made its rounds thru the city with me last week and the temps were in the high 80s.

me_millenium park fountain_8-23-12

Although, I still thought I would pass out before I returned to the office, my forehead and pulse points were cool when I took the visor off.  If you run in sunny areas or get hot and then feel crappy like me, then this might become a new favorite for you as well.  180s Quantum Cooling has generously agreed to give away a QuantumCool Training Visor, a $25 value, to one female and one male reader!  The catch?  Go like them on Facebook HERE.  After you like them on Facebook, then leave a comment below telling me that you did so and I will enter you in the drawing.  I will draw one female and one male winner on Thursday, August 30th so that you have a chance to get a hold of this before the weekend’s long run!  Good luck!

For those of you who do not win and want one of these babies, order the ladies visor HERE or the men’s visor HERE before September 7, 2012 using the 25% off coupon code:  TOOTALL

Please note that although they have a lot of awesome products on the website, the coupon code is only good for the training visors, which are available in white or black and are gender specific:

Mission Athletecare Giveaway

As most of you know by now, I’m a huge fan of Mission AthleteCare!    Their motto is to Perform, Protect & Rehab

  • Perform – Enhance performance during competition!
  • Protect – Combat elements before competition!
  • Rehab – Restore body after competition!
  •

Those are things which I can really get behind, particularly when their products are formulated to not only to work for you NOW but also in the future by being paraben free.  If you are not familiar with the paraben issue, my friend Bridgett has broken it down into laymen’s terms HERE and uses ScienceDaily as a reference.   If I understand it correctly, many scientists are concerned about parabens causing health issues including breast cancer.  More information and scientific detailed reports on the Eves-Best  & Livestrong websites.  The paraben issue is enough of a concern to make me pay attention to the ingredients in products I buy and be thankful when I come across paraben free items.  I’d personally rather be safe now than sorry later.

I have randomly written about Mission AthleteCare products multiple times in the past as I stumble across a new favorite and I have even given way items out of my personal stash for the Favorite Training Items Giveaway.  More recently, I talked about the Mission Athletecare EduraCool Towel which Aby and I are still fighting over.  You can read that post HERE.  I actually read a review on it from another blogger yesterday who didn’t think it was that “cool” but then she also mentioned she lived in a no humidity area.  Our towel, that we use in the Midwest, is awesome, stays cool for hours and we find it very refreshing.  The fact that it is reusable, washable and big enough to fight over is just a bonus!

EnduraCool_me

I am also in love with the 5 Hour AntiChafe Stick which I am now using exclusively  to combat the infamous chub rub.  This product is smoother than some of its competitors, goes on very easily, does not crumble and stays on for hours under very nasty hot and sweaty conditions.  The sticks is $9.99 and I have 2 for the giveaway!  I use it for running, triathlon and keep one in my purse for skirt/short days.

image

The Foot Rehab Cream is a new product to me.  It has a light peppermint scent that I love, tingles slightly upon application and helps the feet repair from those long/frequent training runs.  This is also a good product if you are in sandals all day, every day and your feet take a beating.  The kids and I love this one and hubby is thankful that it’s not nearly as stinky aromatic as the Burt’s Bees Peppermint Foot lotion that he always complains about we used before we received this.  The Foot Rehab is $9.99 and I have 2 to giveaway.

image

We also just recently ventured into the Mission Athletecare Suncare line.  We use so much sunscreen that I should buy stock.  Skin Cancer runs in my family so we use it liberally, we frequently reapply, then reapply again.  We are constantly outside, at the pool or on the lake and go thru as much as a large spray can of sunscreen (or more!) a day.  However, I keep buying different brands because I can’t find one that we like.  My biggest complaint is that the sunscreen burns our eyes and is greasy and/or sticky.  For a family that runs & plays hard, sunscreen burning the eyes is just not an option but I haven’t been able to get around this problem.  One of the Mission ads, below, specifically identifies the problems with sunscreens “stinging eyes, clogging pores, leaving hands greasy” but I was still a little skeptical.

image

We tried both the Kids Continuous Play SPF 70 and the Sun Defeated SPF 30 which both retail for $9.99 per can.  The kids loved this stuff and there was no saving it for a “special” occasion because every time they got called in for sunscreen, Aby would demand that I use the Mission because it didn’t burn her eyes.  Ummm….Okay.  She didn’t know anything about what it should or shouldn’t do but knew that’s the brand she wanted.  That’s as good of an endorsement as I can possibly give so after we use up our current stock of randoms, it will be all Mission sunscreen for us. The applicator worked well, didn’t spray too hard and the spray dried immediately without leaving a sticky film. This was a big win for us!  I have 2 cans of Sun Defeated SPF 30 and 1 can of the Kids Continuous Play SPF 70 to give away.  This totals 7 items available to win!

image       image

So let’s get some winners!  I will pick 7 winners via a random number generator on Tuesday,  August 14th at 9am.  In order to be entered in the giveaway, please do one or all of the following then make one comment below to let me know what you did.

A Few Lessons….

Last week, I learned a few new things.  I may be an “old” dog but I’m always up for new tips or lessons!

1)  No matter how new your swim cap may be, always have a spare in your swim bag.  Swim caps rip.  They are not made of a special material which will last forever.   They do not care that you hold a sentimental attachment to them because you just recently finished their event.  Swim caps rip.

3)  Read reviews of products you own.  No matter how well you think you know your gps watch product, somebody might know something you don’t know.  Last week, I learned that my Nike+ Sportwatch GPS was waterproof up to 50 meters.  Hmmmm, news to me!  This was actually the only complaint I had about my watch, the fact that I couldn’t swim in it.  Well, I was wrong, I CAN swim in it and I did so last week.  Watch still works perfectly!

Me_bike fall 5)  Along the same lines, if your bike isn’t handling well, it drops a water bottle on you because your cage is loose & you just hit a monstrous bump, maybe unclip BOTH feet before rolling down a concrete dip to retrieve the dropped bottle.  Once again, things “may”  not end well.  See above photo.

6)  If you haul your kids out of bed before dawn to go run 1 mile with the F’N Running Club, make sure you don’t look like you are going to run just 1 MILE.  Own that mile in celebration of a new beginning as we kick injury to the curb, albeit very slowly.  🙂

Me&Michael_Stars & Stripes Yes, I did go to the grocery store like this afterwards!

“Run”Way Fashion:  2011 Chicago Marathon swag shirt, RunningSkirts.com stars & stripes triathlon skirt, Zensah Compression Sleeves in Stars & Stripes.  This is the first time I’ve tried the Zensah brand of compression.  I must admit, my love for the stars & stripes pulled me in and I fell instantly in love with the look and feel.  I wore the compression sleeves for a short run (1.6 miles), a .5 walk/run with the kiddos, play time on the playground and then hit the grocery, so probably for 4 hours total.  Yes, people stared at me in the grocery.  If you don’t want people to stare when you wear workout gear in public, maybe go with something less amazing a bit more traditional.

So far, I really like the sleeves, not too tight, not too hot, not too boring.  Just right.  I’ll definitely be wearing these a lot more as I begin to rebuild my mileage.
